Today I’m playing a game of hide and seek with my nephew’s Flat Stanley. He’s hiding, I’m seeking. He’s around here somewhere.
“Come out, come out wherever you are! I’m supposed to show you around Nashville and take you places and send you back to Arizona with a scrapbook full of fun things that we did together.”
Oh why does he have to be so flat? Maybe he’s under the field trip permission slip that I forgot to fill out or the report card that never got signed, or the stack of Bed Bath and Beyond coupons that I always forget to bring to the store.
We live in a digital, paperless age. There should be a Hologram Flat Stanley or a Virtual Flat Stanley app by now where you can scan and check-in your little buddy on your phone and then beam him back to his family with all the neat places he went….via text.
Because if there’s one thing that I’m worse at than keeping track of paper, it’s putting things in the mail.
Don’t worry, Brady, Auntie Bria will find your flat friend and show him a good time….and send him back to you even if she has to pay $50 bucks to overnight him because the deadline to have him back approached faster than I thought it would. Now back to turning my house upside down.
